Starting point of the TBI journey—the raw, powerful acknowledgment
When you tune into the BLAST. you get the Flash account of our interviews, you'll be thrust into the Guests 'Golden Hour'—the critical window from the moment of injury to definitive care. This can be the difference between life and death, and where their journey with TBI begins.
What You Will Hear:
- The Point of Injury (POI) and Immediate Care: Guests detail the initial moments after the blast, focusing on the chaos and the immediate medical response delivered by first line medical responders (self or buddy aid, Medic/Corpsman etc.). This includes Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) protocols—and triage under fire.
- The QRF/MEDEVAC Call: The radio request for support / MEDEVAC request is detailed—the frantic race against time to prepare the casualty, fight through any enemy or obstacle, QRF and the challenges of securing a friendly extraction zone (LZ). We focus on the strategic challenges of their extraction—how long it took, the specific means of removal, and the environmental/mission factors impacting the decision.
- The Critical Window: Listeners will understand the significance of the clock ticking toward a higher level of care within the theater of operations. Guests recount their mental state (if conscious) during transport, their care received, and the first documentation of symptoms following the BLAST.
- The Walking Wounded: This section concludes when the handover was complete at a higher level of care, their following surgical/clinical haze, and the realization that a severe, often unrecognized, under reported, under documented neuro-cognitive injury has been sustained.
